‘Singin’ in the Rain’ concludes classic film series
Harbor Theater’s Classic Film Series ends with a bang with the all-time favorite musical, “Singin’ in the Rain,” playing at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 and Saturday, March 23.
Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor star in “Singin' in the Rain,” one of the most successful musicals ever filmed - filled with memorable songs, lavish routines and Kelly's fabulous song-and-dance number performed in the rain.
Set during the advent of "talkies," Don Lockwood (Kelly) has risen to stardom during Hollywood's silent-movie era - paired with the beautiful, jealous and dumb Lina Lamont (Jean Hagen). And when Lockwood becomes attracted to young studio singer Kathy Selden (Reynolds), Lamont has her fired. But with the introduction of talking pictures, Lockwood finds his career in jeopardy after audiences laugh when they hear Lamont speak in her shrill voice for the first time... until the studio decides to use Selden to dub her voice. That’s when the fun begins…..
The movie runs 1 hour 43 minutes and is rated G, for all ages.Tickets are $10 at the door. Subscribers will be checked off from a list at the door. Free popcorn and water are available for the show. Oak Street Café & Catering will provide complimentary wine and cheese after the film.
