Halcyon presents ‘Music on the Medomak’
On Saturday, June 22 at 7 p.m., Halcyon will present a concert that uses music and imagery to celebrate Maine’s working waterfront at Broad Bay Congregational, UCC at 941 Main Street, Waldoboro.
The evening will feature music by Holst, Haydn, and Schubert accompanied by projections of photographs and paintings that capture the many ways the Medomak River supports local fisheries from clamming and lobstering to ice fishing and the alewife run. Musicians include Waldoboro violinists, Josie and Sophie Davis, violist Colin Wheatley, and cellist Ju-Young Lee.
“Music on the Medomak” marks the fourth annual multimedia concert that seeks to celebrate the beauty of the local landscape through music and art. Josie and Sophie's vision for the concert is to pair music and photography in a way that merges two art forms that are often interpreted separately. They believe that both mediums have the ability to inspire change and awareness and that together, they can inspire an appreciation for our dependence on the natural world.
Admission is by donation. For more information, visit halcyonstringquartet.com.
