Steven Dunn photography on display at Newcastle Realty
Steven Dunn of Chelsea is an internationally recognized photographer most noted for his impressionistic images. He has been referred to as “Monet with a Camera.” The show will run through July 1 at Newcastle Realty located at 87 Main St., Damariscotta.
Using such techniques as Polaroid manipulation, multiple exposure, montage and rear projection, he creates images that have a true painterly quality. In addition to the United States, his images have been exhibited in Europe and Asia.
Mr. Dunn has been a photographer for 30 years and has studied with internationally recognized photographers, Freeman Patterson, Andre’ Gallant, Joyce Tenneson, Jay Stock, and Tony Sweet.
Dunn has been a member of the Maine Photography Show (MPS) Committee since its inception 14 years ago and is a past chairman.
He has published a book of impressionistic photographs of Monhegan Island entitled “Monhegan - Timeless Impressions of a Special Island.” His images of Monhegan have been described as timeless, unique, unforgettable and as artistic meditations in the way they convey the island’s special beauty. Mr. Dunn is donating all profits from the sale of the book to Monhegan Associates, a nonprofit land trust formed by Theodore Edison to preserve the “wild lands” of Monhegan.
Newcastle Realty is a locally owned, locally grown company with a strong commitment to supporting local artists.
