Boothbay Region Art Foundation (BRAF) invites people of all ages to take part in their annual Art in the Square show, an art scholarship fundraiser, along with local and regional artists.

All artwork is created on 12” by 12” canvas squares that can be purchased at BRAF; wood, or any assemblage that conforms to the size limit for this exhibit. Mediums include oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, photography, collage, weaving, collage, etc. Up to 6 pieces can be submitted.

Finished squares need to be delivered on (or before) Nov. 25 between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; or Nov. 26 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The exhibit will be installed Tuesday afternoon in readiness for Black Friday on Nov. 29 when this popular exhibit opens at 11 a.m. New and replacement artwork will be accepted during open hours throughout the duration of this exhibit.

The purpose of this event is to raise money for BRAF’s Scholarship Fund; and to provide sponsorship for the Annual Student Art Show (pre-k through grade 12).

Each square sells for just $100 — $75 of the proceeds go to the artist, $25 to the fund. Many loyal customers have grown to appreciate the chance to purchase original artwork just in time for holiday gift-giving. So, this is prime time for displaying our local talent.

BRAF will be taking part in the Boothbay Lights celebration staying open during the Maine Botanical Gardens spectacular “Gardens Aglow” attraction. The Art in the Square exhibition Open House and Reception will be held during the Harbor Lights Festival Saturday, Dec. 7 with refreshments served from 4 to 6 p.m.

Gallery hours will be Thursday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
