WES students use fat-tire bikes, team-building in phys ed
Wiscasset Elementary School fourth graders recently enjoyed physical education class on fat-tire bikes. The outdoor adventure program is in collaboration with Midcoast Conservancy and AmeriCorps members. The program is to support youth to have healthy, active lifestyles and an appreciation of our environment.
Team-building activities help students learn social skills and goal setting, and help foster positive relationships.
According to its website, the program with Midcoast Conservancy is designed to provide students opportunities to experience unique outdoor activities. Childhood obesity is a significant health problem in the U.S. and can lead to preventable diseases later in life. The program's mission is to support healthy diet, daily physical activity, and enjoyment of the outdoors.
