Mangia, mangia! There will be a dinner and auction at 5:30 p.m. March 27. Come out and enjoy a delicious pasta dinner and a fun
auction. Lots of winners!
Thank you to PIE (Partners in Education) and volunteers for all the hard work and dedication put into making this a wonderful event. All proceeds go to support our swim program.

Our school’s Kids Heart Challenge event was a huge success! Thank you to all the third through fifth graders who participated in the after school event and helped fundraise. WES has raised over $500 in donations! These contributions will go toward supporting the American Heart Association in the fight to help prevent and treat heart disease.
The students had fun signing the KHC banner. It will be making its way onto the gym wall soon. We had a challenge to see how many students we could get jumping at the same time using two long jump ropes tied together.

WES has been using PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) strategies to create a safe, responsible and respectful place for all students to learn. If you visit our school, you may notice a bucket with red slips inside. These slips represent the numerous times staff have seen or heard a student being safe, responsible, or respectful. We call these slips Paws Tickets. When a student is safe, responsible and/or respectful, the student gets a slip which then makes its way to the PAWS bucket in the front lobby.
Once our PAWS bucket is full, we announce to all students they have earned a school-wide celebration. Some previous celebrations have included pajama day, hat day, popcorn delivery, a visit from the traveling planetarium and a dunk tank at our field day in the spring. Students are currently working to earn some
popcorn and a 15-minute Pixar movie.
We are proud of our students for working together toward earning these goals, and for being safe, responsible and respectful along the way. It makes WES a great place to be and to learn.

There is a lot of illness going around at WES: Coughing, colds, sore throats and stomach aches. There have been several confirmed cases of Influenza B. Not every illness will be the flu. Symptoms of influenza are high fever, cough, sore throat, stuffy or runny nose, muscle and
body aches, and fatigue.
Please offer your children instruction and encouragement to use soap and water to wash hands. Have your child sing the “Happy Birthday” song and don’t stop washing until the song is done. Hand sanitizer is provided in classrooms. Encourage your children to use it when entering or leaving the classroom. Coughing into their shoulder will help to prevent the spread of the germs!
If you experience the above flu symptoms, please keep your child home from school. Our policy is that students may not return until they are fever free for 24 hours without medication. See your physician; there are antiviral medications that can be prescribed to help treat flu and shorten the duration of symptoms!
