Coming up: Cattle Call and Don Campbell Band
Mark Farrington sings of log trucks and snowmobile trails as the lead vocalist for Cattle Call, while Don Campbell brings memories of Dan Fogelberg to the stage this summer. Both musicians, and their bands, will help wrap up August performances at the Opera House in Boothbay Harbor.
Mark Farrington’s band of Maine musicians always leaves audiences calling for more of their originals. Hard to describe but perhaps pigeon-holed as “Maine Country and Folk,” the band brings an unforgettable sound to the stage. Cattle Call recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of their first CD release, and to celebrate they re-mastered, added 5 bonus tracks, and re-released “Good Life” which will be available at the concert on Friday, Aug. 21. Along with Mark Farrington, longtime singing partner Jimmy McGirr will be on bass, John Davison (of McCarthy’s fame) on drums, and Boothbay’s own Gabe Tonon returns home to join on lead guitar. Come on out and enjoy Mark’s songs of life in Maine, old friends, lost loves, and good times. Advance tickets are $20.
Musician Don Campbell is a familiar sight on the stages of Maine and Nashville. His Saturday, Aug. 29 concert is dedicated to the music of Dan Fogelberg. In 2012, Don released a double CD, “Kites To Fly: Celebrating the Music of Dan Fogelberg” and in 2013, began presenting live performances of this music around his own busy schedule of Don Campbell Music shows. His performances are endorsed by The Fogelberg Foundation of Peoria whose leadership also brought the Band to Dan’s hometown of Peoria, IL to headline one of its annual Dan Fogelberg Celebration Weekends. Join us for this fine tribute. Advance tickets $25.
Responding to the precautions necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, audience sizes are limited to 50 and all seats are reserved. Audience members are required to wear masks covering their nose and mouth for the safety of the musicians and staff as well as for the safely of fellow patrons. Those unable to wear a mask throughout the evening should not purchase tickets.
Tickets are available directly from the box office at 86 Townsend Avenue or by calling 633-5159. Both concerts start at 7:30 p.m., doors for seating open at 7.
The Opera House bar will be serving cold drinks and the Friends of the Opera House will have coffee and dessert available.
