Community supporting community: Fundraiser for Ukraine
Gathering together is a powerful act. We aim to create special events that gather folks in collaboration and curiosity, creativity and literacy, nature and science. Our next Community Literacy Event is no different, and we’ll be focusing on community, and expanding our scope to support our fellow worldwide citizens, banding together as only communities can.
Join us Saturday, May 21, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., as we host a fundraiser for Ukraine. We’ll read “Luna and Pebble,” a story that addresses the refugee crisis and speaks to kindness, hope, and friendship during uncertain times. Together we’ll create, reflect, paint kindness stones, and lend our support to the Voices of Children Foundation. This Foundation has been helping children affected by war, by providing psychological and psychosocial support, and assisting the evacuation process, to families all over Ukraine.
These creative community gatherings at the Merry Barn Writers’ Retreat are free and open to children, adults, and elders alike. Gatherings highlight creativity through read alouds and hands-on projects.
