KELT to host Storybook Trails throughout spring and summer
This spring and summer, KELT is excited to offer storybook trails across the region! With the help of passionate volunteers, KELT has designed storyboards that will serve as temporary exhibits at a number of its preserves this spring and summer. Come to one or come to all for nature themed stories and outdoor activities for children 6 years old and younger. With a chaperoning adult, young children will be able to walk a trail, explore a preserve, or visit LOCAL garden while reading a beloved children’s nature book one page at a time.
First up, come explore the wonders of the Green Point Preserve in West Bath while reading “Little Sap” by Jan Hughes. Take in the lovely spruce-pine forest, enjoy views of Winnegance Bay, and read a story all about young trees and the trials and tribulations of growing up! This temporary installation will be up from Saturday, May 21 at 10 a.m. to Friday, May 27 at 5 p.m. Then, explore the wonders of the LOCAL Garden in south Bath while reading “Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt” by Kate Messner. Children will be able to explore the many types of vegetables, fruits, and flowers while reading about what makes gardens grow. This temporary installation will be up from Sunday, June 19 at 10 a.m. to Sunday, June 26 at 5 p.m. Families are welcome to use the picnic tables at the garden during their visit. Participants can visit each storybook trail any time of day during their installation, dawn to dusk.
