Y Arts performs ‘Dinosaurs Before Dark Kids’
The Boothbay Region Y Arts youth performers returned to Lincoln Theater Friday and Saturday, May 28 and 29 to present “Dinosaurs Before Dark Kids.” The play was a cute musical from the “Magic Tree House” collection about brother and sister Jack and Annie, who stumble upon a magical tree house and travel back in time to the age of dinosaurs. They befriend a dinosaur and escape the clutches of other terrifying dinosaurs, before returning home to Pennsylvania.
Directed by Emily Mirabile of the Y, the cast included six youth playing Jack and Annie in the three shows. On Friday, Collin Cantillo and Fiona Bishop were the lead characters. Saturday morning’s performance saw Ford Harris and Jackie Branch as the young wanderers. The final performance on Saturday afternoon had Jeffery Buck and Scout Martin as Jack and Annie.
Other leading roles were filled by Sophia Mansfield (Otto), Sarah Harris (Stump), Lina Minzer (Henry), Ian Michaud, Finn Sullivan and Andrew Minzer (Triceratops), Sofia Michaud, Jojo Shea and and Natalie Flagg (Anatosaurus Moms) amd Kaylee Wayda (Toto).
The cast was filled with dinosaurs and trees, including Lily Billings, Cairine Blackman-Morehouse, Nicholas Colby, Samantha Colby, Vivian Flagg, Emma Foote, Madeline Frey, George Graham, Maia Greenleaf, Agatha Harris, Lucie Hollon, Maddox Hutchinson, Evelyn Michaud, Oscar Mirabile, Lydia Mitchell, Phoebe Mitchell, Allison Smart, Emily Smart, Jessie Ullo, Kayla Watts and Vivian Well.
Tech crew included Damon Leibert, Ella Watts, Ford Harris and Collin Cantillo.
Credited for set and props help were Corey, Jojo, Oscar, Imij and the Armstead family.
Disney’s “Frozen Jr.”, as well as “Madagascar Jr.” and “101 Dalmations Kids” will be performed by Y Arts youth this summer.
