Carol Ann Smale, 87, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away on Aug. 26, 2022.

She was born on Sept. 25, 1934, in Mount Vernon, New York, to her parents, Elmer Danforth and Evelyn Ruth (Huntsinger) Colcord. Carol was a school librarian and media specialist in education for 45 years and set up 27 libraries from scratch. Carol and her husband taught in international schools for about 15 years.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert L. Smale; son, David B. (Betzaida) Smale; grandchildren, Steven Smale and Melissa (Ryan) Fothergill; three great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Hunter and Ava; niece Laura (Tom) Blake; nephews, Larry (Mary) and two children, Tallie and Nathanial Colcord; David Colcord and Donny Colcord.

She was preceded in death by her brother: Robin Colcord.
