Fiber art show at River Arts
River Arts will feature Searsport artist and art educator, Sandi Cirillo, in a one woman show. Her fiber and mixed media selections will be on display in the River Room from Nov. 3 to Nov. 22.
Cirillo’s joyful show is deliciously tactile and colorful. Working with mixed media, as well as manmade and natural fibers for over 25 years, she creates unique pieces with a variety of textures. In her exploration of new techniques, Cirillo designs solar plate etchings on silk fabric, which can also be viewed in this exhibit. Cirillo’s work can also be seen on her website www.especially-for-ewe.com.
In speaking of her inspiration, Cirillo says, “My love of traveling and living in Maine has most definitely inspired my work. I create sketches, take photos and use these as reference when creating a piece of artwork. My work is constantly changing and maturing as I experiment with new materials and textures. This is reflected in the variety of work I have displayed in this exhibit”.
River Arts is located at 36 Elm St. in Damariscotta. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information visit the website: riverartsme.org or call the gallery at 563-6868.
