“ Hopper: An American Love Story” - Exhibition on Screen – (1 hour, 30 minutes) - This new film takes a deep look into Hopper’s art, his life, and his relationships. From his early career as an illustrator; his wife giving up her own promising art career to be his manager; his critical and commercial acclaim; and in his own words – this film explores the enigmatic personality behind the brush… Combined with expert interviews, diaries, and a startling visual reflection of American life, Hopper brings to life America’s arguably most influential artist. Written and directed by Phil Grabsky. Music by Simon Farmer. Released to coincide with the major Hopper exhibition (Edward Hopper’s New York) at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (Oct 22 – Mar 23). “Decision to Leave” - (NR; 2 hours, 18 minutes (in Korean and Chinese with English subtitles) - A new mystery, thriller, and crime drama from critically acclaimed director, Park Chan-Wook, known for the 2003 award-winning film “Old Boy.” From a mountain peak in South Korea, a man plummets to his death. Did he jump, or was he pushed? When detective Hae-joon arrives on the scene, he begins to suspect the dead man’s wife Seo-rae. But as he digs deeper into the investigation, he finds himself trapped in a web of deception and desire. Playing at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16; Saturday, Dec. 17 at noon (note early start time) and 7 p.m.; Sunday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m.; and at 2 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21 and Thursday, Dec 22.
“ELF the Musical JR!” - Y Arts production featuring a cast of 50 local youth! - Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. Starring Spencer Pottle as Buddy the Elf, Sophia Mansfield as Jovie, Ford Harris as Santa, Finn Sullivan as Walter Hobbs. Showtimes Fri Dec 16 at 4 PM and Sat Dec 17 at 10 AM and 4 PM.
