Gingerbread Spectacular 2022 judges Brenda Blackman, Kim Martin, Margaret Branch and Amy Valentine unanimously voted Carla Warren’s “Christmas Tree Farm” Most Spectacular. This marks Warren’s second consecutive win in this category!

The Almost the Most Spectacular — “Christmas Market” by Noel Twigg, Areth Foster—Webster, Alison Evans. “Incredible!”
Best Traditional Gingerbread House Design — Terry and Ray Paetzold “This was their first attempt at building a gingerbread house and it is impressive.”
Most Creative — “Santa Claws” by Holly Stover and Marge Kilkelly. This gingerbread makes a sweet political statement of support of Maine lobstermen and includes a bag of coal for the “Naughty List” — NOAA, Seafood Watch and Whole Foods. The gingerbread was featured on Channel 6's 207 program, in a spot by Don Carrigan, Thursday, Dec. 15.
Best Representation of a Local Landmark — Lauri Perkins and Dana Moses’ tribute to The Woodchucks
Best Youth Entry — Colman Connelly
Best High School Class Entry — “The Pot Buoy Tree” — by the Class of 2024. $150 will go into the class treasury.
Best Landscaping — Veda Harriman and the BRHS senior class
Best Holiday Spirit — Sally Kent and Sarah Laurie (first—time builders!)
Largest — "Christmas Market" by Noel Twigg, Areth Fsoter—Webster and Alison Evans
Most Hilarious — "The Great Debate" by Susan Brackett and Bob Eisele
Most Delicious Looking — Youth Explorers of Midcoast U.U. Fellowship
Best Depiction of a Local Event — Mari McGuire’s "Steller eagle.”
Opera House Executive Director Cathy Sherrill said prizes can be picked up at the Opera House during the Spectacular, or at the box office the week of Dec. 19.
There are many more creations in the Gingerbread Spectacular including a crown of the late Queen Elizabeth II; a rock band — Ginger and the Breadheads; the Seahawks field and snack shack; a lighthouse; and more! See them Sunday, Dec. 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
