Dear Editor:

The Wiscasset board showed indifference and prejudice towards Mr. Juntura when it denied his liquor license renewal. The board chose to take Chief Hesseltine’s words as fact, when he provided no documentation to back up his assertions.

No business owner should have their livelihood threatened by the word of one person, no matter what position they hold. The board also needs to request that Chief Hesseltine provide an explanation as to why he made statements that to date have no evidence to back it up.

The state’s decision to overrule the Wiscasset Board and issue Mr. Juntura a liquor license is the right one, but it does not remedy the financial damage incurred by Mr. Juntura.
