This week at Harbor Theater
“The Lost King” - (PG13; 1 hour, 48 minutes) - In 2012, after having been lost for over 500 years, the remains of King Richard III were discovered beneath a car park in Leicester. The search had been orchestrated by an amateur historian, Philippa Langley, whose unrelenting research had been met with incomprehension by her friends and family and with skepticism by experts and academics. “The Lost King” is the life-affirming true story of a woman who refused to be ignored and who took on the country’s most eminent historians, forcing them to think again about one of the most controversial kings in England’s history. Final shows at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 and Thursday, April 13.
“The Graduate” - (1967; PG; 1 hour 46 minutes) – Classic Film Series - Benjamin Braddock (Dustin Hoffman) returns home to California after successfully completing college. He gets a hero's welcome from his parents, but Ben isn't quite sure what to do with the rest of his life. He is soon seduced by Mrs. Robinson (Anne Bancroft), the wife of his father's partner, who methodically pursues the inexperienced young man. Soon, they are meeting regularly in hotel rooms. Warned by Mrs. Robinson to stay away from her daughter Elaine (Katharine Ross), Benjamin’s father goads him into taking her out on a date. He finds he quite likes Elaine but when she learns he's been having an affair with her own mother, she'll have nothing to do with him. He's smitten however and pursues her. Joining us for a post-viewing Q&A for the Saturday show will be Dr. Jon Cavallero, Bates Associate Professor of Rhetoric, Film, and Screen Studies.
