Wiscasset, Boothbay Region eye having Boothbay Region 7th, 8th graders finish school year at Wiscasset
Wiscasset Interim Superintendent of Schools Robert “Bob” England Jr. released the following statement Friday, April 7:
Dear students, staff and parents:
Most people are aware of the flooding issue that occurred at Boothbay (Region) Elementary School early this year. We are pleased to announce, pending approval of both school boards, that Boothbay Middle School grades 7 and 8 will be using space graciously made available by Wiscasset Middle High School to complete their school year. Both school boards will be voting on this at their Monday (April 10) meetings to take effect after April vacation.
Wiscasset and the Boothbay Region share a unique historical and contemporary bond strengthened by friendly competition as well as cooperative athletic teams and sharing of resources when possible. The willingness of the Wiscasset School Department and of the staff at the Middle High School to extend themselves and to make the adjustments necessary to accommodate our students and staff demonstrates an empathy and compassion that is all too rare in our society today.
We look forward to these next steps in strengthening the bonds between our communities for the benefit of our students.
More detailed information on how things will be coordinated will follow next week (the week of April 10). Please contact us if you have any questions,
Sincerely,
Robert England, Superintendent of Wiscasset School Department and Robert Kahler, Superintendent of Alternative Organizational Structure (AOS) 98
