Experience counts
Dear Editor:
Pam Dunning is once again running for the Board of Selectmen in Wiscasset. Having served on the Budget Committee and Select Board for many years, Pam brings with her a wealth of knowledge concerning Wiscasset’s fiscal history as well as the needs of day to day operations of the town.
One of Pam’s goals is to reduce the tax burden on its citizens. With Maine Yankee long gone and high paying jobs in short supply, many of our residents are living on very limited budgets.
In order to relieve the tax burden on its citizens, Pam believes we need to attract more businesses in order to broaden the tax base and create a more stable economy.
Along with this goal is the need to preserve existing services such as emergency services, snow plowing, solid and waste water management as well as maintaining roads, buildings and our waterfront. All of these services are necessary for the health of the town and its citizens but they cost money. Pam believes that we must improve or repair what already exists in town before taking on any new tax payer funded projects.
I urge you to vote for Pam Dunning in order to restore a common sense goal of fiscal responsibility to our town.
