Elect Cray to RSU #12 school board
Dear Editor:
I am writing in support of Barbara Cray for Westport Island’s Representative to the RSU #12 School Board. Barbara is a multi-talented neighbor of mine who deeply loves Maine and works at building connections. As a member of Westport’s Community Association, Barbara has helped plan and expedite island events for several years. She is a talented, creative individual who can write songs and share them with others on her guitar. She participates in local choral groups, including the Tapestry Singers of Newcastle. She is also a filmmaker, and I was particularly impressed by her efforts to showcase the women’s suffrage movement through both history and music. As a testament to her talent, several of Barbara’s films have been featured on pubic broadcasting stations.
Despite the challenges of Covid restrictions, Barbara worked tirelessly to bring people together safely in outdoor settings to enjoy books, films, and community. She even participated in a local triathlon to prove to herself that she could do it. Barbara is willing to work for what she considers important.
In her professional life, Barbara’s career as an attorney brings a wide range of experiences to her worldview. She volunteers with the Restorative Justice Project as both a facilitator and member of the steering committee. She is a graduate of Emerge Maine and wants to use her abilities to help Mainers live their best lives. As a mother, Barbara understands the challenges of raising children in today’s world and wants to work to bring the best possible opportunities to Westport Island’s students.
Barbara Cray is a fresh voice who will work hard for this island. I am happy to endorse her candidacy for RSU#12 School Board.
