Heller talks sense
Dear Editor:
I attended Tuesdays candidate forum to observe my friend Terry Heller in political action. I’m from Damariscotta but have been adopted by the Wiscasset Garden Club. I helped Terry and others plant petunias in your median gardens. Terry carried water for us so those little plants could get a good start. That’s caring for the town! But please let me make two even more important observations from the forum.
First about the reserve fund. The current board didn’t lose money. The stock market went down. Don’t listen to foolishness. They have been good budget managers!
Second, it is time as Terry said, for Wiscasset to focus again on energy development. She’s suggesting evaluating the current opportunities and developing a path forward. There is a new generation of small nukes to take a look at but they need a close scrutiny. There is also the possibility of fighting to be the connection point for offshore wind and battery storage. Large scale hydrogen production is another possibility especially in association with an offshore wind connection. Terry is a fighter and understands the importance of energy development to Wiscasset’s future. As a Lincoln County resident, I support her larger view. I can’t vote for her but I urge all you eligible voters to re-elect her! She’ll do a good job for you.
