This week at Harbor Theater
“Barbie” - (PG13; 1 hour, 54 minutes) - One week only! Wear pink to any show and take a selfie in our Barbie picture frame! Living the perfect life in the perfect world, Barbie (Margot Robbie) has it all. Until one day when things start changing and her perfect world seems to fall apart. From her shower being cold to falling off her roof, rather than floating down, and her heels falling flat to the ground — Barbie now has to choose between her perfect life and finding out about the real world. Driving out of Barbieland and into California with Ken (Ryan Gosling), the two set out on a journey of self-discovery, experiencing life without perfection. Trouble follows as the CEO of Mattel (Will Ferrell) aims to put Barbie back in her box, silencing her journey and getting his chance in the spotlight. Plays at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18; Saturday, Aug. 19; Monday, Aug. 21 through Thursday, August 24, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20.
“Barbie is also absolutely bonkers — and I was 100 percent on board with wherever it took me. I sat in the theater beaming with a grin not even a bright-pink bazooka could wipe off my face.” – Odie Henderson, Boston Globe
“The Miracle Club” - (PG13; 1 hour, 30 minutes) - Set in 1967, “The Miracle Club” follows the story of three generations of close friends Lily (Maggie Smith), Eileen (Kathy Bates) and Dolly (Agnes O'Casey) of Ballygar, outside Dublin, who win a pilgrimage to the sacred French town of Lourdes, that place of miracles that draws millions of visitors each year. Just before their trip, their old friend Chrissie (Laura Linney) arrives in Ballygar for her mother's funeral. The women set out on the journey that they hope will change their lives, with Chrissie, a skeptical traveler, joining in place of her mother. Along the way, old wounds are reopened, forcing the women to confront their pasts even as they travel in search of a miracle. Playing at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, Saturday, Aug. 26; Monday, Aug. 28 through Thursday, Aug. 31; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27.
“A handful of terrific actors make the pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, hoping for a miracle. Linney radiates empathy and a sort of soft-spoken sincerity.” – Peter Debruge, VARIETY
