Wiscasset Climate Action Team seeks input Oct. 25, Nov. 4
Wiscasset residents are discussing how to prepare for the effects of climate change (“climate resilience”) this fall through a series of public workshops.
These meetings aim to inform Wiscasset’s enrollment in Maine’s Community Resilience Partnership, a program that helps Maine communities reduce emissions and prepare for the effects of climate change through direct support and grants of up to $50,000. Wiscasset’s Climate Action Team (WCAT), formed in May to help the town take action on and plan for climate change, is organizing and leading these meetings with support from Shri Verrill of Sunrise Ecologic.
WCAT’s first of two public climate workshops is aimed at guiding Wiscasset’s application to the Community Resilience Partnership: Oct. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wiscasset Community Center, 242 Gardiner Road, Wiscasset.
This meeting will focus on understanding community concerns on climate risks, and will be followed by a second workshop looking at climate solutions and community progress, Nov. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m., Wiscasset Town Office, 51 Bath Road, Wiscasset. In-person and hybrid (Zoom) participation are both supported, and limited support for travel and child care are available by request. Refreshments will also be available.
WCAT invites you to share your climate change concerns and priorities ahead of the workshops by taking its short survey at: https://tinyurl.com/wiscassetclimatesurvey
