Alice Zinkowski
Alice Zinkowski died peacefully Jan. 28, 2024 at the Gregory Wing at St. Andrews Village, Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
The 13th and last child born to Simeon and Alice (Goguen) Cormier of Norwood, Massachusetts on April 18, 1925.
Alice graduated Norwood High School and went on to study at the Peabody School for Girls. She was a top supervisor at Bell Telephone exchange in Framingham, Massachusetts before making a career move to Dresser Industries.
Alice married Richard (Dick) Zinkowski in 1954 and together raised their family, dividing their time between Norwood and Barnstable, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. Summers on Cape Cod included Sandy Neck sandbar BBQs, dune buggy rides, water skiing, and lots of friends and family dropping in at “Dick’s Grill” where the price of admission was a seashell or something interesting collected on the beach. After Alice was widowed in 1988, she enjoyed traveling with her daughter Patricia, visiting Thailand, England, Italy and cruising in Australia and Indonesia. Alice moved to St. Andrews Village in 2008, enjoying many years in Independent Living where she was an unofficial ambassador who proudly gave tours to friends and prospective neighbors.
Predeceased by husband Dick and son Stephen, Alice leaves her daughter Patricia; daughter-in-law Jane McBride; and her many Thai Granddaughters, “Cormier” nieces and nephews.
Donations in her memory may be made to Friends of Thai Daughters, P.O. Box 370, Trevett, ME 04571, www.friendsofthaidaughters.org.
Her family extends thanks and appreciation to the wonderful staff at St. Andrews for their kind and loving care for more than a decade.
A Celebration of Life will be held this summer.
