Lobster Festival Parade delayed for one hour; Rockland road closures for events Saturday, Sunday
At 7:21 a.m., Aug. 3, The City of Rockland began forwarding messages to the public with the decision to delay the annual parade for one hour, due to heavy rain in the area. The parade will now begin at 11 a.m. Closure of Main Street and other planned routes will begin at 10:30 a.m., sharp, according to Rockland Police Dept.
The Maine Lobster Festival website and The Bangor Daily News program insert that was distributed on the Festival grounds this week show the parade originally beginning at 10 a.m.
ROCKLAND — This week, Wednesday, July 31 – Sunday, August 4, the Maine Lobster Festival will be in Rockland’s Harbor Park. While most of the activities will occur within the park grounds, two activities in particular will occur on Rockland roads.
On Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. - around noon, “The Big Parade” will be happening on Main Street. The Rockland Police Dept. requests that traffic use Old County Road to bypass the city.
On Sunday, from 8 - 11 a.m., runners in the 5K and 10K Road Races will make their way through town, requiring temporary road closures. RPD requests that vehicle operators drive slowly and watch for runners.

“With the influx of tens of thousands of visitors from around the country and world coming to visit Rockland, PLEASE plan ahead and give yourself extra time when traveling through,” said RPD.
PARKING:
There is Free parking at South Elementary School (30 Broadway, Rockland, ME) and Oceanside High School (400 Broadway, Rockland, ME) where a school bus shuttle will take you downtown to the Festival. Buses run every 15/20 minutes from the school to the Festival grounds and back. The bus schedule is listed on the Festival schedule.
