Several significant musical events involving the Wiscasset Primary and Middle schools will take place over the next few weeks.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, the Wiscasset Middle School choruses will join with the Wiscasset High School chorus and band to lead the music for the annual Wiscasset town Christmas-tree lighting ceremony. This is always a fun and festive way for our students to help usher in the holiday season in Wiscasset. The ceremony begins at 4:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church on High Street.

On December 11, Wiscasset Primary School third and fourth graders will present their production. The theme of the program is "Big to Little!” and will allow the children to show their knowledge of the Maine Learning Results Social Studies standards as well as the Common Core Science standards.

Students are studying geographical concepts of the planets, world, continents, countries, states and community. This performance will showcase student learning around these concepts and incorporate comparing cultures around holiday celebrations.

This program will feature choreography, instrumental performances and a beautiful set that has been created by all the students attending Wiscasset Primary School. The performance begins at 6 p.m. in the Wiscasset Primary School gym.

On December 17, the Wiscasset Middle School will perform the annual holiday concert. The concert will feature the fifth grade chorus, middle school chorus and the middle school band. Some of the choral selections include an upbeat piece with a familiar holiday carol called “Winter Fantasy,” “California Dreaming,” and “Winter Wonderland.”

The band will dazzle the audience with an exciting piece called “Ceremonium.” The concert will conclude with the tradition of combining the band and choruses for “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.” The performance begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Wiscasset Middle School gym.
