Local musician competing in Sound Off
A Wiscasset High School senior is hoping to make some noise in a statewide competition.
Abby Dunn, 18, is a senior at Wiscasset High School and competing in the Maine’s Credit Unions Young & Free Maine Sound Off music competition.
Dunn, who writes and performs her own original songs, needs votes to advance not only in the competition, but in her musical career as well.
“People should vote for me because I'm a budding local artist,” she said. “I feel like this would give me a boost I really need.”
Dunn's own original song “Should have known” is featured on the Young & Free website.
The Sound Off competition pits Maine's best 18- to 25-year-old musicians against one another for a chance to earn recording time, a slot at the Kah Bang music festival, and other prizes.
To advance, Dunn will have to be in the top five when voting ends February 12. She is currently in fifth, but said she still needs all the help she can get.
Voting started Wednesday, Jan. 29 and will end for the preliminary rounds at noon, February 12. To vote, visit the Young & Free website. To hear more of Dunn's music visit her Facebook, YouTube or Soundcloud page.
