A week after allegedly leading police on a chase, a Wiscasset man remains at large.

Glenn Lewis, 58, of Wiscasset is alleged to have run from Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline on Tuesday, Dec. 16 after Cline reportedly attempted to pull over a black Ford F-150 without a front license plate or inspection sticker that was reportedly passing erratically.

On Wednesday, Dec. 17, Lewis' truck was allegedly seen by a caller who reported seeing the vehicle on Hodge Street, but as of 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22 Lewis remained at large.

On Dec. 16, the operator of the truck, later identified as Lewis, allegedly accelerated and attempted to elude Cline traveling northbound on Gardiner Road, according to a press release from Wiscasset Police Department.

A chase ensued and the Lincoln and Kennebec County Sheriff’s Departments and Maine State Police sent officers to assist Cline, the release states.

“Lewis allegedly operated his vehicle in a reckless and dangerous manner throughout this pursuit and passed numerous other motorists in efforts to elude Cline,” the release continues.

Cline gave up the alleged chase within six minutes; he said he had identified Lewis by that point and decided to end the chase so as not to put motorists at risk, the release states.

Lewis has a warrant out for his arrest for allegedly eluding a police officer, criminal speeding and improper plates.

“Lewis has also been the subject of another investigation by Cline in which he had allegedly attached plates to another vehicle that didn’t belong to it (improper plates) in November,” the release states.

Police said citizens should not approach Lewis themselves.
