Woman pleads guilty to sexual abuse of minor
A former Whitefield woman has been found guilty of one charge of sexually abusing a minor.
Keturah Tillson, 28, of South China pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a minor after she engaged in sexual acts with a minor in 2013.
Tillson pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a minor, which is a Class C felony. The other two Class C charges of sexual abuse were dismissed. She also pleaded guilty to violating the conditions of her release.
Tillson was sentenced in January to serve all but seven months of her three-year sentence.
Tillson was also ordered to attend outpatient treatment, have no contact with boys under 16 years of age unless supervised, and she will also be on probation for two years.
Tillson was originally arrested on June 13 by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and charged with three counts of sexual abuse of minor. In an affidavit, Tillson was alleged to have had sex with a then 14-year-old Whitefield boy on three occasions beginning Dec. 5, 2013, and ending Dec. 20, 2013.
Sheriff's Office Detective Scott Hayden wrote in his report that he was shown Facebook messages reportedly sent from Tillson to the minor that propositioned the minor for sex.
Shortly after, Tillson was arrested and charged with the multiple counts of Class C sexual abuse of a minor, which carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison or up to a $5,000 fine.
