Boothbay Harbor man pleads guilty to felony drug charges
A Boothbay Harbor man who imported illegal hallucinogenic drugs from China has been sentenced to two years in prison following a guilty plea.
Aaron Witt, 31, of Boothbay Harbor pleaded guilty to two felony counts relating to a 2014 arrest for illegal possession and importation of drugs.
Witt pleaded guilty to class B aggravated furnishing of a scheduled drug and class C illegal importation of scheduled drugs on Feb. 27 at Lincoln County Superior Court in Wiscasset.
For his guilty plea, Witt will serve concurrent 24-month sentences in prison.
Witt was originally arrested in December 2014 by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Boothbay Harbor Police Department; he arrested at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset where he was in custody following an arrest for probation violations stemming from a 2011 Rockland conviction.
His Rockland arrest related to the manufacture of Dimethyltryptamine (DMT), which is a hallucinogenic drug.
Witt’s December 2014 arrest was for receiving bath salts and DMT from China via the U.S. Postal Service.
Witt reportedly received “dozens” of illegal drug packages in the summer and fall of 2014 via the mail. Witt's girlfriend, Audrey Saremi, 23, of Lewiston, was also arrested in December and charged with class D possession.
