Edgecomb Eddy School’s kindergarten and first graders benefit from FARMS experience
Monday, May 4 found the new F.A.R.M.S. facility in Damariscotta filled with Edgecomb Eddy School’s kindergarten and first grade students. While there, the students identified a variety of vegetables and learned about ways they are grown, prior to them peeling, slicing and dicing parsnips and rutabaga.
After prepping, the students seasoned the vegetables to prepare them for cooking. Once done, the children all gathered around a table where they tested their finished products.
The majority of students delighted in how good they were, and many proceeded to return for lots more. This was a wonderful, hands-on experience for the children who walked away intending to share ideas for cooking these healthy vegetable snacks with their families. They also brought their enthusiasm back to the older students of the school.
