Somerville man arrested for alleged sex abuse
A Somerville man has been arrested and accused of illegal contact with an underage girl in 2013.
Jeremy Hallowell, 36, of Somerville was arrested May 22 and charged with two counts of felony sexual abuse of a minor after he allegedly had an illegal relationship with a teenager in 2013.
Lincoln County Sheriff's Detective Scott Hayden wrote in his report that the sheriff's office was tipped off about the alleged contact by a Department of Health and Human Services referral. According to the report, a teenager allegedly admitted to a school counselor that she had sexual relations with a 35-year-old man in 2013 when she was 15 at the time.
The victim allowed Hayden access to her Facebook account where he found messages purportedly sent from Hallowell to the victim.
According to the report, the victim said Hallowell knew she was underage at the time because he allegedly bought her a cell phone and cake for her 16th birthday.
Hallowell was ordered to have no contact with children under the age of 16 and to further abstain from contact with the victim.
Hallowell is scheduled to have a court date July 27 at the Lincoln County Court House. Class C crimes are felonies and are punishable by up to five years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
