Waldoboro man pleads guilty to sexual assault
A Waldoboro man who was indicted earlier this year by the Lincoln County Grand Jury has pleaded guilty to felony sexual assault charges and was sentenced to eight years in prison, with all but two-and-a-half years suspended.
John Field, 58, of Waldoboro pleaded guilty to class C unlawful sexual contact on Monday, June 8 at the Lincoln County Court House.
Field was originally arrested Jan. 10 after the Waldoboro Police Department contacted Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. Deputy Terry Michaud spoke with the victim who was under the age of 16 at the time, about the incident.
According to Michaud's report, the victim was in Field's house earlier in January when Field asked her to enter his bedroom. Field would later sexually assault the victim while she was in the room.
Field was also given three years of probation, will have to undergo sexual offender evaluation, and is not allowed to have contact with children under the age of 16.
The maximum penalty for a class B conviction is 10 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine.
