The Village of Wiscasset, already a treasure trove of high quality art, unique shops, and fun eating places, is pleased to introduce several new additions to its stunning offerings.  Discover these new places during Wiscasset’s first Art Walk of the 2015 season on Thursday, June 25 from 5-8 p.m. Park your car and stroll!

WBG Modern and Contemporary debuts its first season in a beautifully renovated 19th century barn located at 8 Federal St. in Wiscasset, adjacent to the town’s Sunken Garden. This season's exhibitions will focus on modern, contemporary and vintage paintings, sculpture and works on paper. A large selection of contemporary surrealist photography will be on view, as well as a selection of early American and European works, many of which have never before been exhibited.

Ingram Fine Art returns to Wiscasset after a Southern hiatus of several years.  Located at 106 Main Street, the gallery offers a collection of rare and unusual items and works of art including bronzes, antique furniture, ancient Chinese objects, Neolithic and other antique pottery, high quality antique Oriental rugs, fine jewelry, and an 1800s pool table. The gallery represents nationally prominent artists Ronald Frontin, Stephen Hodecker, Eric Jacobsen and others.

This year marks Sylvan Gallery’s 15th anniversary and new, larger space at 49 Water Street. Enjoy the gallery’s group exhibition of work by an exceptional collection of contemporary New England artists including Wiscasset’s Susannah “Sukey” Haney, Charles Kolnik, Robert Noreika, Al Barker, Tina Ingraham, and others. Also featured are the paintings of animals in the local farmscape by co-owner Ann Scanlan.

Across the street at 52 Water Street, James’ Antiques welcomes Art Walk visitors for the first time. On the Pier, the Two Bridges Regional Jail Industries shows off inmates’ handiwork. And just a short stroll away, the Maine Art Gallery on Warren Street hosts Ruth Monsell demonstrating traditional paper cutting during the evening’s artists’ reception.

Wiscasset Art Walk favorites return as well. Newcastle artist Erik Minzner sets up his impromptu studio on Main St. and paints en plein air. On the grassy plaza in front of Ingram Fine Art, ceramic artists-in-residence at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Newcastle demonstrate using a pottery wheel and creating with clay.

Watershed’s display also provides a preview of plates by artist Stuart Gair for their annual, and much-anticipated, Salad Days celebration on July 11. Local artist and musician Tom Block and the Narrow Gauge String Band ply their musical talents in Mac’s Place from 6-8 p.m.

The Wiscasset Art Walk participant sites are marked with sparkling streamers and touring maps are available throughout the village.
