A Woolwich man was taken by a Lifeflight helicopter to a Lewiston hospital early June 25, following an accident on Woolwich’s Nequasset Road, Sagadahoc County sheriff’s officers said.

Ray Page, 73, was driving a 2010 Toyota Camry on Nequasset Road near Woolwich Central School when the car crossed the center line and struck a tree, Patrol Deputy Al Huntington said.

Page’s daughter found the crash scene, Huntington said; she had gone looking for her father when he didn’t arrive at her house as expected; the woman called the sheriff’s office at 12:59 a.m.

The sheriff’s office, Woolwich Fire Department, Woolwich Emergency Medical Services and North East Mobile Health Services responded to the scene, Chief Deputy Brett Strout said. Ray Page was injured in the crash and was taken by helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Strout said.

The helicopter landed at the school to pick up Page for the flight to the hospital, Huntington said.

Page was listed in good condition, a CMMC spokeswoman said Thursday.

It was not immediately known why the car crossed the center line, Huntington said.
