Paul Sullivan plays in Boothbay Harbor on July 25
Grammy-winning pianist and composer Paul Sullivan returns to the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor stage in on Saturday, July 25, with “... a combination of my familiar compositions from my various recordings, as well as some irresistible favorites from the American Songbook — Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael, Cole Porter. I will also be debuting some brand new pieces I worked on this winter,” Sullivan said.
Sullivan spent the early days of his career in New York City where he played and conducted for Broadway shows, but nearly 30 years ago he moved to Maine. In the decades since, he has produced over a dozen albums, while continuing his work as a member of the Paul Winter Consort. He is also a regular composer for the Pilobolus Dance Theater.
“It has been too many years since Paul last performed here,” opera house Director Cathy Sherrill said. “When Paul is at the piano, in this house, magic happens.
“With jazz and classical styles melding, and the inspiration of his Maine surroundings, Sullivan performs his music around the world, but his music just feels as though it was written to be performed here, at the edge of the sea,” added Sherrill.
