Yoga for seniors at Lincoln Home
The Lincoln Home is offering two levels of “Gentle Yoga” classes to the public. Yoga is wonderful for maintaining strength and mobility as you age, and teacher Lynn Sparkes is excellent at tailoring her teaching to the level of her students.
Gentle yoga can be of great benefit even to people with very impaired mobility. The Lincoln Home is starting with a series of four Fridays, July 24, Aug. 7, 14 and 21. All classes are held in our beautifully lit living room overlooking the Damariscotta River, which is wheelchair accessible.
We invite less-mobile members of the public to our Level 1 class 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. You will benefit from this class even if you are using a wheelchair or walker. Yoga is done seated in a chair, ending in guided meditation.
Level 2 Yoga is for more mobile members of the public and involves moving from sitting poses on the floor to gentle standing poses, ending in guided meditation. The classes are from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Bring a yoga mat or blanket and a large-sized beach towel for floor sitting.
RSVP with Lynn Sparks at 207-233-2176. Cost is $45 for four weeks payable directly to Lynn Sparks. The Lincoln Home is located at 22 River Road, Newcastle. For more information, please contact our Steve Raymond, at 207-563-3350.
