Wiscasset, Edgecomb firefighters put out Route 1 camper fire
No one was hurt and traffic was slowed but not stopped Sunday afternoon, Aug. 9, due to a camper fire near Route 1 in Edgecomb, a Lincoln County sheriff’s deputy said.
Kevin Barrett of Tenants Harbor was driving southbound on Route 1 in a Ford sport utility vehicle, towing a Solaris Sunline camper when he heard a noise and pulled into a parking lot at Sheepscot Harbour Village & Resort, Deputy Neil Genthner said.
A wheel on the camper caught fire, then the camper caught fire and was destroyed; no one was hurt and the SUV received no damage, Genthner said.
Firefighters from Edgecomb and Wiscasset put out the fire, he said.
The fire was reported at 2:37 p.m. Sunday, Genthner said.
