Alleged beer bottle attack leads to assault charge
A Wiscasset woman who allegedly threw a beer bottle and bloodied a family member's face has been arrested and charged with a pair of crimes.
Sarah Morse, 31, of Wiscasset was arrested Monday, Aug. 10, in Wiscasset after an alleged fight that led to a beer bottle being thrown, and a man being taken to the hospital.
According the arrest report, Wiscasset Police Officer Alfred Simmons was called to an Old Bath Road residence at approximately 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, for a report of a domestic dispute.
When Simmons first arrived, he reported that he met with the victim whose head, face, neck and chest were all reportedly covered in blood. Simmons also reported that Morse and the victim were allegedly screaming at each other, so Simmons placed the victim in cuffs for safety before talking to Morse.
Simmons wrote that the two allegedly got into an argument after drinking, and at one point Morse is alleged to have thrown a beer bottle at the victim, which struck him on the face and neck.
The beer bottle reportedly cut the victim to the point where he had to be transported to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.
Morse was arrested and charged with Class C domestic violence assault and Class D domestic violence criminal threatening.
Class C crimes are felonies and are punishable by up to five years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. Class D crimes are misdemeanors and are punishable by up to 364 days in jail and up to a $2,000 fine.
Morse has an Oct. 26 court date at the Lincoln County Court House in Wiscasset.
She was court-ordered to have no contact with the victim, not to possess any dangerous weapons, and to neither consume nor possess alcohol.
