Sing Vivaldi’s ‘Gloria’ with Sheepscot Valley Chorus
Rehearsals begin Sept. 8
Now is the perfect time to join Sheepscot Valley Chorus, as it continues its 35th season celebration with Vivaldi’s joyful “Gloria.”
Composed c. 1715, “Gloria” was undiscovered for nearly two centuries until the late 1920s when it was found buried among a pile of forgotten Vivaldi manuscripts. It was not performed until September 1939, and found instant popularity.
A favorite of audiences and performers alike, this time-honored masterpiece will be performed with professional soloists and instrumentalists. Rehearsals are every Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. beginning Sept. 8 at Wiscasset Congregational Church on Route 1.
Sheepscot Valley Chorus is led by Artistic Director Linda Blanchard and accompanist Sean Fleming, both of Damariscotta. Recent concerts include last season’s highly acclaimed performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah, presented in collaboration with St. Cecilia Chamber Choir.
