String of alleged Dresden, Wiscasset crimes among Lincoln County indictments
A Brunswick man faces a February hearing in connection with alleged area thefts and other crimes. The charges against Kristopher M. Russ, 33, were among several indictments a Lincoln County grand jury returned Jan. 6.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective Scott Hayden’s affidavit in Russ’ case file details the department’s investigation that started after two Gardiner Road, Dresden home burglaries were reported on Nov. 12, 2015. Interviews with neighborhood residents led officers to interview Russ Nov. 16 at Cumberland County Jail in Portland; he was being held there after being arrested in Brunswick on charges of shoplifting and violation of bail conditions.
Russ allegedly admitted to being in Dresden on Nov. 12 but denied involvement in the burglaries, according to Hayden’s affidavit. It goes on state that Russ’ phone was obtained with a search warrant, and that the phone showed Russ was allegedly exchanging phone messages with another person about burglaries.
The indictment charges Russ with two Class B counts of burglary, one Class B count of theft by unauthorized taking, a Class C count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person; two Class D counts of criminal mischief, and a Class E count of violation of condition of release, all in Dresden on Nov 12, 2015; and in connection with alleged incidents Oct. 29, 2015 in Wiscasset, a Class B burglary count and a Class C count of theft by unauthorized taking.
