St. Cecilia Chamber Choir is auditioning new members for all voice parts. We begin the new year with a program celebrating the rich treasure of a cappella music through the ages, including works of Byrd, Schütz, Gesualdo, Josquin, Palestrina, Monteverdi, Mozart, Brahms, Mendelssohn, and a wealth of 20th century masters.

The choir is directed by Linda Blanchard and accompanied by Sean Fleming, both of Damariscotta. Choir rehearsals are at St. Andrew's Church in Newcastle on Wednesday nights at 7.

Singers wishing to audition should have good vocal control, and sopranos and altos should be able to sing without vibrato.

The ability to read music is much preferred, but those who cannot read may participate by spending extra time learning the music at home with the aid of provided practice materials.

Gifted student singers are encouraged to audition.
