On Thursday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle, Skip Gates and a representative from the Maine Attorney General's Office will lead a discussion on the harmful effects of opiates and how society is dealing with the problem.

Gates' son, Will, died from an overdose of heroin in 2009. As a way of dealing with the tragedy, Gates retired from teaching and now tours schools to educate as many people as possible about the drug problem in America.

A documentary, "The Opiate Effect," will be shown, followed by a question and answer session. The event is free and the public is urged to attend.
