Lincoln County Animal Shelter
The Boothbay Region Humane Society/Lincoln County Animal Shelter started in 1959 when a few dedicated individuals believed there could be a way to help abused, unwanted and abandoned animals in the area. This local business is a humane society, meaning they take in animals that need homes, whether they are strays or those that their humans can no longer care for. They primarily have kittens and cats, puppies and dogs, however you never know what you may find when you come in the door: rabbits, birds, guinea pigs and more.
Servicing 32 towns, Lincoln County Animal Shelter is the local animal shelter for Lincoln County. They have a large variety of colors and sizes of dogs and cats! The best way to find something special for yourself or someone in your life, is come by the shelter and learn about the facility. The Lincoln County Animal Shelter offers gift certificates for those looking to help find a furry or feathered friend during the holiday season. Monetary donations to the shelter or donations of pet food or accessories in the name of someone special make a wonderful gift as well. They also have t-shirts and sweatshirts, as well as some pet accessories, which make great gifts, too. Yearly memberships to this organization are offered and help support their facility all year long. You can also become a cage sponsor for one of the animals. To learn more about these great gift ideas stop by the shelter at 27 Atlantic Highway in Edgecomb or call 207-882-9677.
Lincoln County Animal Shelter is a nonprofit and has wonderful affiliates with many of the surrounding businesses including, but not limited to: Ames Supply, The Animal House, Coast Vet Care, Boothbay Animal Hospital, and Positively Best Friends. Occasionally, the shelter offers a rabies clinic for those that need to get their animals vaccinated, a pet pantry for those in need of help with dog or cat food, and they offer many events such as their upcoming Christmas Party with Santa for dogs on December 15.
