Wiscasset Police Department: Slow down!
Monday, March 21
Chief Troy Cline investigated a case of two trucks tearing up the yard in back of Miss Wiscasset Diner. The drivers of the pickups left the scene, then one returned. Cline followed the driver, who did not return.
Cline took a report of a missing ring, lost on Water Street.
Billy Jo Sherman, 35, of Liberty, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear after bailed, a result of a citizen's complaint about guns and shooting on Huntoon Hill Road.
Officer Leon Travis responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pickup truck and a moose. The truck's plow was damaged. The driver took the moose home.
Officer Nadean Crossley responded to a report of suspicious activity at the Wiscasset Rod and Gun Club. A car pulled into the driveway at nearly 10:30 pm and did not stop.
Deputy Ryan Chubbuck responded to a welfare check on an individual who had made suicidal threats.
Tuesday, March 22
Crossley issued a warning for defect and responded to a burglar alarm at the Quik Stop on Gardiner Road.
Cline investigated a case of a man who was agitated at a doctor's office on Water Street.
Officer Paul Rubashkin issued a warning for a loud exhaust and confiscated a small amount of marijuana and a pipe to be destroyed.
Wednesday, March 23
Cline issued a warning for inspection on Gardiner Road, and a warning for speed and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle on Gardiner Road; and performed a welfare check on Indian Road.
Communications Officer Craig Balsdon performed a 9-1-1 check. The phone was in the caller's pocket.
Officer James Read responded to a fire alarm at Sarah's Cafe that turned out to be a false alarm.
Read responded to suspicious activity on Hale Pond Road, of a person walking around the caller's house with a flashlight. No one was found. A K-9 unit was called out to track the person.
Crossley issued a warning for speed.
Thursday, March 24
Crossley investigated a disabled vehicle at the Miss Wiscasset Diner.
Officer Benjamin Kolko investigated a call about a dog in the roadway. The owner said they would keep the dog out of the road.
Kolko issued a warning for inspection, investigated a complaint of loud noise, which the caller believed to be fireworks or guns, near 568 Bath Road; and investigated a burglar alarm at The First ATM. The machine was secure and showed no signs of tampering.
Kolko issued a ticket and a summons for Operating After Suspension, and waited for a licensed driver to come and pick up the car; and investigated a fire outside a house on Gardiner Road.
Read assisted the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office by transporting a person to Two Bridges Regional Jail, and then to Miles Hospital.
Kolko investigated a case of a harassing flyer, left under a citizen's windshield.
Officer Michael Elwell investigated a report of a tractor trailer losing part of a load on Bath Road.
Friday, March 25
Crossley investigated a report of a burglar alarm at Reliance Auto Repair. The telephone numbers the police had for the business were not in service.
Office Steven Smith was advised to be on the lookout for a car in which a man was screaming abusive language at a young girl. Smith was unable to locate the vehicle.
Kolko issued three warnings for inspection, two for defect, and three for speed. He issued a warning for an exhaust defect and a citation for inspection.
Saturday, March 26
Kolko issued a warning for registration, two warnings for defect, and four warnings for speed; and investigated a complaint of loud noise coming from the bar at the Schooner Inn. The caller believed they were fireworks, but there was no evidence of fireworks. Men there were advised to take their conversation indoors.
Sunday, March 27
Kolko issued 11 warnings for speed, and four warnings for defect.
Crossley investigated a report of a loud noise, possibly gunfire, behind Schooner Inn and Big Al's; and issued a warning for speed.
