A Wiscasset fire officer will be at the fire station on Route 1 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. this Saturday, May 7, and Sunday, May 8, to issue burn permits or answer questions, Assistant Fire Chief Nick Merry said.

The assigned officer’s times at the station are something new the department is trying and will see how it goes, Merry said. It will continue except during red flag conditions, which do not allow any burning, including fire pits, Merry added.
