Edgecomb man suspended as a Medomak Valley High substitute teacher, arrested
An Edgecomb man who was a substitute teacher at Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro has been arrested and charged with crimes involving a student at the high school. Lincoln County sheriff’s detectives arrested William Bourget, 52, at his home Friday evening, May 6. He was charged with Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Class B, and Possession of Sexually Explicit Material, Class D.
These charges stem from an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Waldoboro Police Department into a report that Bourget was in an online relationship with a minor student. Bourget is alleged to have exchanged sexually explicit photos with the student. The alleged incident came to light when the student disclosed to a friend and the friend in turn reported the alleged incident to school officials.
Bourget was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset where he is currently being held in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. Anyone having information concerning this incident is asked to contact Detective Jared Mitkus at 882-7332.
Regarding Bourget’s status at the school, he is suspended and won’t be allowed on any school property.
