Area firefighters responded to a structure fire off Pine View Ridge Road off Back Narrows Road in Boothbay, which was reported around 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26. The fire reportedly started in a shed with houses in close proximity.
According to Boothbay Fire Chief Dick Spofford later in the afternoon, the shed and a nearby camper, owned by William Burnham, was destroyed. However, the Burnham house, located approximately 30 feet from the fire, was saved. Spofford said the State Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating the cause of the fire but “it is believed the fire started near the woodstove in the shed.”
No one was injured during the fire.
“At least the house is livable,” said Spofford, who cleared the scene around 5:30 p.m.
