Boothbay fire started in living room
Fire marshal investigators say Sunday morning's fire in Boothbay started in a first floor living room but they have not yet pinpointed the cause, according to Steve McCausland, Public Safety spokesperson in an email this evening.
A woman and her two children sleeping on the first floor escaped with minor injuries. Two men sleeping on the second floor died as they apparently were trying to escape the fire. Both men's bodies were found by windows in two separate bedrooms. A woman did escape one of those bedrooms by jumping from a window. She is being treated at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Investigators say the home had been rented for the weekend by the group to celebrate one of the dead men's birthdays. Names are expected to be released either tonight or Monday morning.
