Ukelele classes begin Nov. 7 in Rockport
Ukulele: it makes people happy. Bay Chamber Concerts and Music School announces a new session of the ukulele group class with instructor Jeffrey Weinberger. This popular class for intermediate ukelele players is offered throughout the year in six-week sessions. The new session begins on Monday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. in the Bay Chamber Recital Hall, 18 Central Street, on the top floor of the Shepherd Building.
This intermediate level class will emphasize song learning. Through the songs of varied styles and techniques, students will learn not only more about “uke” playing, but also basic musicianship.
Players must know at least six chords and be able to play a simple song all the way through. The entire spectrum of intermediate level playing will be covered and all players will have an equally important role. Students should bring their own instrument and electronic tuner. The instructor will provide the music, instruction and inspiration.
"There is a ukulele revolution going on" said Weinberger who attended Berklee College of Music and recently received his B.M. in music with an education concentration (summa cum laude) from the University of Maine at Augusta.
An accessible, portable, inexpensive instrument for all ages, the ukulele can enrich your life and add a new dimension to family and community music making.
