Diabetes Support Group to discuss foot care and special shoes
Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist Mark Delmar will discuss foot care for people with diabetes at the Diabetes Support Group meeting on Thursday, May 25 from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. The group will meet in the Diabetes Education Room on the third floor of the LincolnHealth - Miles Campus.
Diabetes can cause issues that impact your feet, such as nerve damage or poor blood flow. Proper care, including appropriate footwear, can help prevent common foot problems and/or help treat issues before they worsen. Delmar will discuss proper foot care, shoe types and shoe inserts. He will also inform participants how to determine if they are eligible for diabetic footwear.
Mark Delmar is a Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist at the Hanger Clinic in Augusta. The clinic offers innovative orthotic and prosthetic technologies.
The LincolnHealth Diabetes Support Group meets every other month on the fourth Thursday to allow participants to share experiences and to know that they do not have to deal with diabetes alone.
The LincolnHealth Diabetes and Nutrition Program provides a range of services to diabetes patients and their families.
